The WT wanted to grab onto anyone that could champion bloodless surgery. Of course, they wouldn't bother to retract that info unless it came into the knowledge of the majority of the regular witnesses.

Well if you won't run and want to try to extract him - which will be hard because it's been poured into him since a child - go to https://jwfacts.com/ and educate yourself. He may have more problems than just being a JW tho. Counseling is the way to go.

A film on the Amish and those that leave
by days of future passed init's a simple but telling film of two families that leave the amish.
they experience what jw's do when leaving.
the film maker has a slow but interesting view of what goes on in the amish religion as well as the challenges that the two families have.

It's a simple but telling film of two families that leave the Amish. They experience what JW's do when leaving. The film maker has a slow but interesting view of what goes on in the Amish religion as well as the challenges that the two families have. Although I was sad that they went from that religion to another, at least it is a little less restrictive.

No fun debating "imperfect" JWs
by Tantalon inwell that was no fun at all, just got a visit to invite me to the last supper memorial.
haven't had a call for a long long time.
i tried to engage them about following bible not watchtower, they just kept changing the subject as they have always done but this time every challenge was met with "we are not perfect, the slave is not perfect" and "we don't want to have a debate".

Up until 4 years ago, after every assembly or 2 day get together, the JW's at my place of work would stand around and be excited. They'd be talking about how soon Armageddon would be, the signs and how the work is speeding up.... Now I can't tell if they've gone to one or not.
The older ones are trying to hold on in the midst of all the changes while being depressed over the "overlapping generation" means they will die in this old system of things.
I agree that they are tired or they just are going thru the motions until they get the coffee reward.

Do old time present day active JW`s genuinely believe in overlapping generations ?
by smiddy3 infor the life of me i can not come to terms with old timers in the "truth" who could swallow this interpretation of scripture about an overlapping generation .. when jesus spoke about "this generation" .
are their any real bible students among younger ones any more ?.
here are 3 bible scriptures that confirm a generation is approximately 40- 50 years long give or take a few years .. 1. matt:1 :17 abraham born 2016-18 bc jesus born 2 bc approx.

I always get an interesting reaction when I ask "how long after Jesus said this, did Jerusalem fall?" First their eyes go wide open. I say "It was only 37 years later. So the generation that Jesus was taking about, wasn't overlapping."
Way back when, the organization used to make a big thing about Christendom using the word Trinity. "The word Trinity is not in the Bible!" Obviously, they couldn't be following the bible. But what are they doing now? Using the word "overlapping" just like the others used "Trinity" to prove their version of teaching.
When you think about it, they have 3 overlapping generations and there are 3 in one. Three is a popular number I guess.

Wow, reading that stuff, is like, really annoying to say the least. All of the WT quotes I mean.
What if they wanted to get rid of Morris and sent him out to buy this stuff? Oh gee Brother Morris, since everyone on youtube saw you, we're going to have to let you go. As a remembrance of your time here, take a pillow!
Maybe it was for entertaining some friends in high places or, 1 for each of the 12 tribes of Israel.

Brain Teaser
by BourneIdentity ini’ve always wondered about this one.
if the bible says there will be a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous, does that mean all mankind that have died will come back to life?
if so, what’s the incentive for jws to have an urgency to preach and save people?

The Wt has had to change it's stance on who gets to live thru Armageddon. I remember several years ago, sisters were quite concerned with babies and children being killed at A. The WT came up with how no one can read hearts and so we don't know who will come thru. But they also said that Hitler, Ghengas Khan would be able to be resurrected because they had paid for their sins. But a JW at work was very fearful of making one mistake during the great tribulation and losing out on everlasting life. How just is that?
I don't think most of the people in the world that have been raised "christian" worry about it much now. Everyone thinks they're good and will get a pass. Back in the days of Hell and purgatory, then they had you worrying. Christendom has changed just like the WT into a softer version of what's in store for the sinners because people won't put up with it.

Dating question from a bible student
by Biblestudent1 ini have done bible study for about four months now.

Yes it is actually surprising that she had a beer with you. And then she said something to a friend. Friend said you can't get interested in a "worldly" guy who isn't baptized yet. Better get a few brothers who will make sure he goes to meetings and who will show the narrow pathway of spiritually to him.
You will be scrutinized about your progress, meeting attendance and future out in service moments. This will take many months. If she starts to even hang out with you, she might be counseled by the elders (leaders of the congregation) to not to do so until you are baptized.

The everyday fears of a JW

Remember how much your life revolved around fears? Fears of how going to a new place, might put you in harms way? How bad the world was and how even talking to people, might find you robbed etc?
I write this because when I left the "truth", it was made easier by me moving 15 minutes away into a house I bought. The place is over the hill in a more "exciting" city with poorer people. I got my house just at the end of the housing crash so this was a place I could afford.
The comments my mom has made, are somewhat hilarious. They are always based on the worst scenario. And most of it is because she has lived sixty plus years of it in the "truth".
How you been shot at yet? Has anyone shot thru your windows? You must be careful at all times.
My street is very quiet. The worst that has happened is a house got burned up at the end of the street because of wiring. Recently, I am trying out Doordash to make extra money. One of the first things she said to me was "What if a naked man comes to the door?"
At work, I was regularly whispered to about how bad the world is, how events are coming to a head from the office JW. All sorts of fears about people are addressed. Being a JW makes you suspicious of all people that you haven't met. The WT does a good job of placing a space in your thinking in which all unknowns, must project fear. I know because it worked on me.
I walked around with that fear going on in my mind. All events, places, people etc. could hold unknown dangers such as physical and spiritual ones. Conversely, the WT wanted you to ignore those fears and go talk to people that you would naturally be cautious of out in service. That is what scares me now when I think of it. Who knows how many put themselves in a wrong spot trying to follow the WT?
